About Aaron Evans

My name is Aaron Evans. I am the founder of One Shore Inc.

I have over 10 years IT experience, 8 years in QA. I specialize in automated testing of enterprise applications with web interfaces. I'm a proponent of open source software and agile methodogies.

I started programming when I was eight years old on a TRS-80. I taught myself BASIC from the manual and by copying game listing from magazines. I wrote my own text adventure games and simple joystick-controlled, character-based graphic games. In high school, I learned Turbo C during typing class. I worked at small ISP in the 1990s where I did Linux system administration and web development. I studied computer science at the Oregon Institute of Technology, but didn't finish my degree. I moved to Seattle in 2000 to take a job at Microsoft during the dotcom boom. I've been working (off and on) in the software industry ever since.

In 2005, I quit my job and moved to Fiji with the plan of opening a tourism business. The idea was a "survival tour" where you'd build a shelter on the beach, start a fire without matches, climb coconut trees, go spearfishing, and learn about the culture. Before leaving, though, I fell in love and promised to come back. After spending 3 months in Fiji, and sailing 1500 miles from Fiji to Australia, I came back, and eventually married Kelsey Fox. I blogged about my trip at http://fijiaaron.blogspot.com

In 2007 I moved to Cuenca, Ecuador with my beautiful bride Kelsey. Before we were married, she did volunteer work with an orphanage support program called OSSO. After being married for 3 months, we decided to move down here together. While she wass out saving the world and playing with orphans, I worked on my business, One Shore, to provide software QA consulting, web development, and hosted solutions.

We came back to Seattle after six months in Ecuador when Kelsey got pregnant. We have a beautiful baby boy named "Harmon" after my grandfather. Another baby (a girl, we think) is on the way.

I'm looking for a sailboat, and want to install a satellite internet connection so I can work truly "offshore" on the way between Ecuador and Fiji.
